COMFORT
Comfort is where this headset differentiates itself from the competition. It is hands down, the most comfortable around-the-ear headset I have ever owned.
Starting with the Outlast® Fabric Head Pad. Simply stated, it works. According to their website, “the vented design actually absorbs and stores heat buildup to keep your head cool and eliminate “hot spots”. Surprisingly, it actually does that.
The ear cups pivot and swivel, allowing for you to find the perfect fit. The overall clamping pressure is only ~1.4 lb. or 6.2 N, according to their website. That translates into, very light pressure.
The boom mic is fully flexible and reversible. That way, you can place the boom mic away from the other pilot independent of where you are seated, captain or first officer. Additionally, it is of the correct length, so it can be worn comfortably.
While wearing sunglasses, the seal does break, and the noise floor does increase. However, I do find that the overall increase in noise floor to be acceptable. It is hard to quantify the change, however, I would put it in the ballpark of ~5 dB, a slight but perceptible increase.
